About Me

by Irene Kirkman

Irene Kirkman is teaching small business owners  Relationship Selling Principles which will translate into more prospects/customers, more sales and higher customer retention through repeat business. Building relationships is paramount to lasting business success.  For more information on this topic: http://relationshipselling.org As much as we would like to build our business completely online; offline tools such as the telephone and good old snail mail have their place. Many I talk to are leaving money on the table. So much energy has gone into getting leads that most have no idea on what to do next. Combining online methods with a sales follow up system such as the picking up the phone or sending business thank you cards and developing Relationship Selling skills or consultative selling skills are of critical importance.

Building an Online Business Online

Building an online business online. What a concept! I have been in love with that concept for a long time. It's only been in the last little while that it has dawned on me that even though I thought that was what I was doing I wasn't. I talk to people about wouldn't you like to own your own online business and then promptly tell them they need to go to this meeting and that seminar. I finally realized the difference when talking to a house bound mom with young children. It's really not a solution for her if she has to constantly get sitters so she can attend a hotel meeting.

It seems you have to hear something several times before it really sinks in; at least I do. I was listening to a free online seminar the other day with Alicia Bausley who is part of Ann Sieg’s Renegade Team. What is so cool about being on Ann's team is that I am in no way linked to Alicia and yet here she is sharing nuggets of information with everyone on the call. And if you miss the call it’s recorded. Anyway, someone on the call asked Alicia about finding people at BNI. Her response? "I don't do that anymore. I build my business completely online."  Her statement hit me like a ton of bricks! I already knew this but somehow it hadn’t sunk in completely. I had heard that the 3 foot rule applied to the distance between me and my computer but it hadn’t truly registered!

Imagine the time that can be saved by staying home! Imagine your fuel bill going down! Imagine building an online business online! Wow!

Replicated Sites

Does anyone remember the article by Jeff Hamel? At the time I thought isn't this exciting I already have one. Or at least my company did. The idea of a replicated site sounded like a great solution to knowing all that techy stuff. When I read Ann Sieg however I had an Oprah lightbulb moment. She simply asked how much traffic got generated from a replicated site. Then I read Mike Klingler and he explains how links create a net in which to capture people to your site. We aren't allowed links to our site. Allowed? I thought I was an independent business owner??

Ann Sieg Speaks the Truth

When I first read the 7 Great Lies it prompted me to purchase The Renegade Marketer. It made sense but I thought oh I can't do that. I had been well schooled in old school thinking.
