by Irene Kirkman

Irene Kirkman is teaching small business owners  Relationship Selling Principles which will translate into more prospects/customers, more sales and higher customer retention through repeat business. Building relationships is paramount to lasting business success.  For more information on this topic: http://relationshipselling.org As much as we would like to build our business completely online; offline tools such as the telephone and good old snail mail have their place. Many I talk to are leaving money on the table. So much energy has gone into getting leads that most have no idea on what to do next. Combining online methods with a sales follow up system such as the picking up the phone or sending business thank you cards and developing Relationship Selling skills or consultative selling skills are of critical importance.

shortcut to domain mapping video

I just did away with my .squarespace.com attachment. Mike's directions are excellent but if it is necessary to relisten to the video here is a written version. You still need video but hopefully it will help you fast forward to where you need to be. You do need to wait a bit while it loads before sliding the bar.

First. log into blog; go to configure; structure & style and slide down and over to domain mapping.

at 2:12 on video is step 1. purchase a domain name via go daddy.

8:00 Step 2. point (If you didn't purchase via go daddy these directions do not apply)

11:00 at godaddy site click on domain name you want to name blog and click.

11:35 look for total DNS Control & MX  records and click.

13:00 locate CNAMES (aliases)  down 1 line is www.-------------------->click on pencil icon. make sure your are on correct line and click correct pencil) Are you sure? click OK.

14:49 CNAME Alias  15:04 points to host name; see @sign. Delete @ and type in www.squarespace.com. (Be sure or won't work) Click OK.

17:50 pause tutorial and write these #s down: 69.28.242.163 click pencil

18:45 Mike reads #s to be sure. Click OK

20:25 done with step 2 pointing. Log out of go daddy.

21:20 back to blog and domain mapping page. (If not there login at blog; go to configure;style&structure and slide down and across to domain mapping.

23:00 Step 3. Claim

23:45 enter domain name (don't use http://) simply www.yoursitename.com

24:50 Click on Add Mapping.  Within dark blue suggestion box. Click on add domain without www. button

25:20 You will see 2 URLs one with no www. with a NO beside it and your primary address with www. with YES beside it.

Hope this is helpful!

How to Insert Image onto Squarespace

Sometimes simple directions aren't that simple. The videos are terrific but sometimes you just want to know what to do without going through the whole video. I hope these directions are of benefit. The directions on squarespace seem straightforward enough but when you think you are doing something correct you miss things. And of course on the internet one tiny detail makes all the difference!

http://manual.squarespace.com/pages/insert-an-image.html is where you go for help. (I couldn't find this on my own.)These instructions are very good except I missed the very first direction! The support people were very nice but couldn't tell me what I was doing wrong. Missing this one step meant that my image showed up as an icon instead of an image. Because it showed up where I wanted it I didn't realize my mistake!

My directions:

1. Put cursor where you want the image to appear. Now I know it says this clearly but having already done it with Mike I jumped to the cassette box image.

2. Access Image area: Click on the cassette box image

3. Access Upload New Image Area: Click on the piece of paper with the folded corner

4. Browse to Image on Computer: Click browse and this takes you to your pictures (assuming you have some on your computer)

5. Select Image on Computer

6. Upload Image (if you have used the images before you can click directly on General Storage which shows up in Step 3.

7. Choose Alignment

8. Insert Image

Easy when you know how!
