About Me

by Irene Kirkman

Irene Kirkman is teaching small business owners  Relationship Selling Principles which will translate into more prospects/customers, more sales and higher customer retention through repeat business. Building relationships is paramount to lasting business success.  For more information on this topic: http://relationshipselling.org As much as we would like to build our business completely online; offline tools such as the telephone and good old snail mail have their place. Many I talk to are leaving money on the table. So much energy has gone into getting leads that most have no idea on what to do next. Combining online methods with a sales follow up system such as the picking up the phone or sending business thank you cards and developing Relationship Selling skills or consultative selling skills are of critical importance.

Calling Leads? Don't know what to say?

So now what do I do?

You received the congratulations e-mail; someone purchased the Renegade Network Marketer e-book. Now what?

I’m assuming here that you have your tools in place. You have your contact manager, your auto-responder messages and your postal auto-responder in place.

You are ready to make that first phone call. What do you say?

You need a script.

Even if you don’t follow it word for word. In fact you don’t want to. You do need a guideline. Also, you need to know that calling this person is NOT the same as calling an uninterested lead. This is not like picking up the 100lb phone. These people have spent $67 to purchase the ebook and system. They are a highly qualified lead.

You are simple going to have a conversation. You are going to ask questions; not all of them and listen.

Sample Script:

"Hi, may I speak with (purchaser’s name)? This is (your first name) (your last name),

I’m an associate with Ann Sieg's Renegade Marketing Team. This is as a customer courtesy call in regards to your recent purchase of Ann’s e-book: The Renegade Network Marketer. With this purchase you are entitled to a complementary one-on-one coaching session to go over how to use The Renegade Network Marketer System to achieve your goals in your network marketing business.

I need about 7-10 minutes of your time before setting up your complementary consultation.
Before we continue, did I catch you at an ok time?

Okay, great.

I have a few questions I’d like to ask you. Once I have a better understanding of what your needs and challenges are I’ll have a better idea of how I can be of assistance. Sound good?"

"How did you find the Renegade e-book?"

Everyone has a story of how they came to read the Renegade  Ask if they’ve read it through and if they have been to the back office.

"Are you in network marketing?"

'Which one? How long? How big is their downline?

What led them to pursue network marketing?

"What is your biggest challenge?"

More often than not the challenge is finding leads.

"What are you doing now to promote your business?"

Do they have a web-site? Are they using old school methods like word of mouth?

"What is your interest to learn? What are your computer skills like?
"

This question is asked so that they answer on a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the highest, on  interest to learn more about promoting themselves, and bringing prospects to them? I often get answers like 10+ or 12. It’s also relevant to know about their computer skills. It's good to know how comfortable they are with using the internet and computer to build their business.

"How much time do you have to build your business?"

How much time are they able to commit to their business each week? How much time can they actually pencil into their daytimer? I tell people up front if they only have 8-10 hours a week they will be spinning their wheels.

"Have you thought about a marketing budget?"

In the Renegade, Ann talks about the need for a marketing budget. She mentioned having at least $50 a month to start off with. Have they thought about a budget? Their monthly marketing budget helps me decide what tools I can recommend to help them  build their business.

"How do you feel about multiple streams of income?
"

In Ann’s book she talks about the need to have multiple streams of income. Have they given that any thought for their business? Is that something they want to do? I also explain that affilate marketing is not the same as adding another MLM.

"Do you like talking to people?"

Network marketing is a relationship driven industry, and to successfully run a profitable business it will require talking to lots of people. Is that something they feel comfortable with? If they aren't comfortable I offer to send them some resources to help them.

"What is your long-term goal?"

Do they want to replace their income or is this more of a hobby?

Assign homework:

"Ok, I think I have all I need to do some homework and prepare your consultation. Is this your best e-mail address? To make the best use of our time together I have some homework for you. Does that sound good?

Great. I would like you to watch four short videos that last a total of about an hour. To download the videos you will need to sign up for the consultation on my web site.

Are you by your computer now? The web site is http://TheMarketingHowTo.com/renegade
You need to fill in your name and email and then go to your in-box to confirm your e-mail address with the permission request. The videos will then be sent automatically."

Set the appointment.

"Let’s look at our calendars and see what day and time are best for you. Does (date and time) work for you? Great! I’ll send you an e-mail with a confirmation of the date and time along with the link to your homework. Also, can you be by your computer and on the phone at the same time?

I work by appointment only so if you can’t keep this appointment, please call or e-mail me so we can reschedule. Does that work for you?"

"Did you have any other questions?"

"So, again my name is (your first name) (your last name) and my phone number... are you ready? My phone number is xxx-xxx-xxxx. Okay, I look forward to chattingwith you on (date and time)."

That’s it. This is about learning the art of asking questions. Listening to the response. Feeding back what you have heard and asking for verification. Here's a link if you would like to read a review of the book, How to Sell Network Marketing without fear, anxiety or losing your friends by Michael Oliver who teaches extensively on the consultative approach This book has become a bible for me.

This post is a big help for guides of the renegade system. For a guide to follow your lead, that person would have to create a series of videos or audios or ebook, that could be used to entice the new prospect to opt in to your list so that you will be able to send them periodic information.
Great post Irene
